Soundarya Lahari - Sloka 24

The divine eye brows of Goddess
[Sarva Bhoota Pretha Pisaasa Bhaya Nivaaranam]
Soundarya Lahari - Sloka 24

Jagat soote dhaataa hariravati rudraha kshapayate
Tiraskurvannetat swamapi vapu-reesa-stirayati
Sadaa poorvaha sarvam tadida-manugrihnaati ca siva-
Stavaajnaa maalambya kshanacalitayorbhroolatikayoh

Jagat soote creates the world
dhaataa Lord Brahma, the creator [Generator]God
harihi Lord Vishnu, the Organisor God
avati maintains
rudraha Lord Rudra, the Destructor God
Kshapayate destroys
G O D - generation – organization – destruction
The whole world [of actions] or even the fourteen worlds consists of only these three functions.
Tiraskurvann making the whole universe immersed in him
etat these three
swam by his own
vapu api - body also
eesaha Maheswara [the avyakta god]
tirayati making it [the whole world] invisible
Sadaa-poorvaha sivaha Sada Siva who has the first name in front of Siva
sarvam tadidam such of these five Gods
anugrihnaati blesses the devotees
ca – and
tavaajnaam your order
aalambya obeying
kshana-calitayoh expressed by a [single] action of a minute
bhroolatikayoh of the eye brows

Brahma the creator, creates the world; hari the protector, maintains the world, rudra the destroyer destroys the world; iswara the unseen [invisible] God makes the world and the three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra immerse in him and he also becomes invisible; but, Sada Siva, who is your partner, by your order of the [single] movement of eye-brows alone, blesses the devotees.
Goddess herself assumes the names/forms of Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Iswara[or eesaana] and Sadaasiva and does the five fold functions respectively through these gods.
Hence, the goddess is referred by the name panca kritya paraayanaa in Lalita Sahasra Nama, which goes like this –

Srishti kartree Brahma roopaa
Goptri Govinda roopini
Samharini Rudra roopa
Tirodaana karee Iswari
Sadasivaa anugrahadaa
Panca kritya paraayanaa

Our three states of waking [jaagrat], dreaming [swapna], and sleeping [deep sleep or sushupti] can be compared to the three worlds consisting of Rajo guna, Satwa guna and Tamo guna.
The five Gods referred in the above sloka can be seen depicted in the Picture of Baala Tripura Sundari in which the abode or seat of the Goddess Supreme is shown as the cot which has four legs shown in each of which is respectively posited the four gods Brahma, Vishnu, rudra and iswara and the top plate of the cot is sadaa sivaa.
[This picture [sree cakra] is required for a deep devotee of goddess or “saakta” who worships devi or sreecakra-pooja].
“Saambhava Deepika” says as –

Srishti sthityupasamhaara
Tirodhaanaanugrahaatmakam
Krityam pancakritam yasmaa-
Ttannumaha saaswatam sivam

All the five karmas are of the same Siva as per the requirement of the universe.
A real devotee of god or goddess becomes equal to the Sadaa Siva, thereby capable of bestowing blessings on all his well-wishers, satisfying their day to day needs as referred in Bhagavad gita as below :-

Ananyaascintayanto maam ye janaa paryupaasate
Teshaam nityaabhiyuktaanaam yogakshemam vahaamyaham

The same principle is referred in one of the dasopanishads namely the mundaka Upanishad in the sloka as below-

Sa veda yetad paramam brahma dhaama
Yatra viswam nihitam bhaati subhram
Upaasate purusham ye hi akaamaah
Te sukram yetat ativartanti dheeraah

The same is the meaning of the Upanishad quote –
“Brahmavid brahmaiva bhavati”
The goddess can be understood as our own self – by the three triads yantra, mantra and tantra – yantra is the our body-mind-intellect complex when considered as micro and the universe when considered at the macro level, mantra is sloka; and tantra is the technique of sravana-manana-nidhidhyasana.
The devotee will have the divine powers whether he wants or not; he will possess divine creative powers; he will have the divine maintaining powers and the divine destructive powers; hence, he will do good to himself and the whole world and can never think of doing any evil.
